What a great morning that was!

20 mixed pairs took part in the event, playing in a round robin tournament initially involving 4 groups of 5 pairs, with the top 2 pairs from each group progressing to a knockout stage

The matches were of a consistently high quality and the handicaps led to many close matches with a third of the matches being decided by 3 or less points

The final was eventually contested by Jim Nicholson and Beth Thomson (6 handicap) and George O’Connell and Gracie Houston (3 handicap). Jim and Beth gamely hung onto their lead for a long period of the match, but eventually George and Gracie’s power and accuracy started to win points consistently and they ran out winners 16-10

Prizes were presented by our Honorary League President – Keith Grange to the beaten semi finalists and finalists

All in all, a great morning of pickleball enjoyed by 15 first division players, 14 second division players and 11 new members, and played in a great spirit
